The AA Interactive Encyclopedia of Britain and Ireland is a CD-ROM collection of information on a wide range of subject areas relating to the British Isles. Cleverly organised in a virtual building designed to look like a castle you can either wander around the building or use a menu to visit its themed rooms for all your information needs. The "When" Room provides access to a timeline--click one of the items in the timeline and you can see more detail. The "Who" Room offers biographies of over 2,500 important people grouped into categories like writers, architects, scientists, philosophers and engineers. Visit the "Where" Room for an atlas of Britain and Ireland and to find out about more than 9000 places. And finally, drop into the "What" Room for a miscellaneous collection of materials

As well as visiting the rooms and browsing their content, you can follow links between connected information. There is also a search tool to help locate material on topics of interest which can be used to scour the video, audio and other multimedia on board. There's also a quiz to test your knowledge. AA Interactive Encyclopedia of Britain and Ireland is not the easiest CD-ROM to get used to--learning how to browse around effectively takes a little time.
