Refresh Rate - the number of times per second the screen is entirely redrawn. Measured in Hertz, one should buy a monitor that supports a refresh rate of 75Hz or more.

On Screen Display (OSD) - the menu that lets you adjust various settings like contrast, brightness, horizontal / vertical size and position of the screen, etc. of the display using an on-screen menu.

Resolution - the number of pixels displayed in a horizontal row times the number of pixels displayed in a vertical column. Higher resolution allows for finer details and larger usable display area.

Dot Pitch - The distance between the dots that make up an image. The smaller the dot pitch, sharper the images. Common monitor dot pitches are between 0.25 mm and 0.31 mm.

Convergence - three coloured (Red, Blue & Green) electron beams converge on a single pixel. Misconverged beams cause a fuzzy picture with colour halo around them causing eyestrains. |
