There's nothing more important than the health of your family, and a thermometer is a must-have item in any medicine cabinet. Used by more people in the world, including doctors, than any other infrared thermometer, the Braun ThermoScan ear thermometer gives accurate results in around 1 second. Anyone with babies and small children will know how difficult and sometimes inaccurate conventional stick-type and forehead-strip thermometers can be. It can also be quite distressing for both parent and child. By measuring the temperature in the ear as opposed to the forehead, underarm or under the tongue, the ThermoScan ear thermometer can quickly and accurately record a temperature. This is because the eardrum shares the same blood supply as the temperature-control centre in the brain. Operation is very simple: place the thermometer in the ear canal and press the green button. After about a second the unit will beep, telling you the temperature has been recorded. The small, but very clear and easy-to-read

LCD screen displays the temperature. The LCD screen also has a light facility allowing for easy checking at night. If you're unsure as to what a normal temperature should be, a printed guide is included. The expanded memory function allows you to recall the last temperatures taken. The ThermoScan is supplied in a sturdy travel case with batteries and 21 disposable lens filters (which are required for operation). Replacing the lens filter is very hygienic as a simple press of the release button near the head of the thermometer will pop-off the lens filter allowing you to release it straight into a bin without ever having to touch it. Although ideal for babies and small children, the Braun ThermoScan ear thermometer is suitable for anyone of any age. The unit may seem a little expensive compared to conventional stick-type thermometers, but it is a small price to pay for peace of mind when it comes to the health of your family. No home should be without one. --Ben Curtis
