Trying to picture the whole So Solid Crew in a tiny studio clambering and fighting to get onto the decks for this mix comp is a tempting and humorous image. But the small matter of which member of the group did actually mix F**k It is pretty unimportant--what is crucial is that the choice of tunes is on point and there's an overall vibrancy. Linking together a bunch of cuts hot on the Garage circuit right now and a few classics, F**k It manages to weigh in heavy on all counts. Starting out with the Corrupted Crew's "G.A.R.A.G.E." anthem, the mix moves through skippy, breakbeat-style sonics and saccharine two-step fare. There's plenty of SSC inclusion of course--"Friend of Mine", "Dilema" and "2 Dark" (a collaboration with 2 Jedi) are all here, as are a bunch of the crews remixes like Beverly Knights "Get Up", Tymes 4's "Body Rock" and Hi Tek feat Jonell's "Round and Round". Other highlights are the energetic vocal tracks of Maxwell D ("Bun Dem") and Purple Haze ("Messy"), the instrumental bounce of K2 Family's "Dis One A Who?!?" and Ratpack's hype "Get You Rockin". Not quite as rambunctious as a SSC live show but an effervescent comp that reveals Garage's links to the worlds of hip hop, r & b, breakbeat and drum & bass.--Paul Sullivan
