Straight out of North London's Ronin stable comes the carefully assembled work of the Deckwrecka. V For Vengeance, his debut of scratch and paste, sound bitten hip hop provides a non-stop, channel hopping exploration of martial arts, sci-fi, comedy, gangster flick, old hip-hop joints, soul, funk, reggae, electro, classical and even the odd bit of '80s pop. Deckwrecka samples everything but the kitchen sink across a mammoth 28 tracks, working the same vein of turntable scratch-hop as Kid Koala and (Dave) Ruff Beats. However V For Vengeance is a clever, but rather repetitive experience that is too restless for its own good. Few of the tracks extend beyond the three/four minute mark and although everything is tight and well produced, its cyclical style sounds a little drawn out by the time it's 'outro theme comes around. This is a solid but not essential album.--Found Sounds
