Devising fun and interesting ways to make learning enjoyable is not always easy. However, LeapFrog has created a sensational learning system, Little Touch LeapPad. Following on from the success of the LeapPad Learning System and My First LeapPad, Little Touch is designed for babies aged between 6-36 months to foster pleasurable early learning by using brightly coloured, tear-resistant, baby-friendly books with stories that really come to life. Simply by touching the Little Touch book, babies can interact with the learning system, making simple choices as different things catch their eye. Each touch is rewarded with a sound, word or music, (depending on which mode is in use), offering encouragement and reward for continued exploration. As babies progress, they will make surprising discoveries which together will lead to exciting first reading experiences. In each book there are three learning settings, the first of which is based around "Music and Soundscapes", using rhythms and sounds to stimulate early brain development. The second setting is "Word Play", which features short, descriptive phrases to introduce word/object association and build early language skills. The third setting, "Laugh and Learn", contains fun-filled rhymes and early learning interactions to develop children at pre-school age. The rhymes develop language, introduce

the alphabet and letter sounds, colours and shapes, and develop story comprehension skills. The storybook provided with the Little Touch LeapPad System is "One Bear in the Bedroom", which shows various animals having a wonderful time, and at the same time introducing your child to the concept of counting and number recognition. To enable the book to come to life it has to be snapped into the Little Touch by pressing on the plastic spiral spine, and the story cartridge should be inserted firmly. Next, choose the appropriate level setting, touch "Go" to activate each page and watch as your baby starts to learn. Also provided are activity cards which have simple operating instructions and are intended to be used for independent learning. Accompanying Little Touch is an excellent and comprehensive coloured guide and instruction pamphlet that offers simple explanations using straightforward language.
