The LeapPad is a unique interactive early learning system designed to help young children develop reading skills, vocabulary and thought processes: simply slot the book and the special cartridge into the LeapPad and use the magic pen to tell stories, spell out words and play interactive games. The World of Dinosaurs is part of a range of science books for use with the LeapPad, and is a fine example of why the system has reaped awards. The book is split into three sections covering the various eras of the dinosaur--the Triassic Period, the Jurassic Period and the Cretaceous Period. Touch the image of the globe that features in the corner of each section with the magic pen and the book will tell you where each dinosaur lived; touch the speech bubbles on the pages and hear the paragraph read out loud; touch the timelines at the bottom of the pages to hear when the dinosaur lived and then touch the "paleontologist" button to play a game. This simple, interactive idea is brilliantly executed and encourages children to explore the world of the dinosaurs in a straightforward, highly entertaining and thoroughly educational way.
