What do girls want when they grow up? That's the question asked in the opening titles of Me Myself I, and then all the way through by one girl lucky enough to try two separate options. Pamela Drury (Rachel Griffiths) is an award-winning journalist with endless relationship problems and an apartment full of self-affirming Post It Notes. In a freak accident, she's knocked down by herself Surreally switching lives, Pam finds she's now married to the Mr Right she foolishly let slip 13 years ago. She has three kids, a dog and all manner of hang-ups about being a housewife. The magical circumstances are irrelevant to the plot. There's no sorcery or science fiction at work. This is quite simply a charmingly presented evaluation of what life has to offer the modern woman. Griffiths carries the movie perfectly in the highly sympathetic role, backed by three terrific child performances. The tangled web of love lives will naturally sort themselves out, but the inherently humorous journey is a worthy one. So worthy in fact, Hollywood couldn't wait to remake this as The Family Man the following year.--Paul Tonks
